Learning Conversations – Parent meetings with teachers

Make sure you book in your time for these important progress based meetings with your child’s teachers, see details below. Please note school finishes early on Tuesday 21 March at 12.50pm. Please pick up your children promptly, or arrange after school care.

Year 5 and 6 – EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom)

Our Whānau Kererū learners headed out to Ōrewa Beach this week to develop their water skills on the ocean and have a go at surfing. We have had fabulous feedback on how worthwhile it is for children to explore the ocean and build on these life skills. Once again, we could not make this happen without committed teachers and parent volunteers.

Carparking issues and Board review:

Parents have shared their concerns around the parking situation in regards to the Collins Street carpark (STAFF only) as well as the Anzac Street carpark (double parking, parking on yellow lines and blocking others). The Board will be doing a safety review and will make the necessary changes as needed. In the meantime, I do encourage you to please park safely – the mall across the road, lake parking and off-street are good solutions to this problem.

School Picnic

What a wonderful event we had yesterday, seeing families interacting and spending time in the sun together. A huge thank you to our SCG (School Community Group) for all their mahi, we are so fortunate to have parents volunteer their time.

Thank you to our awesome SCG team for their hard work in getting setup for an awesome day of community engagement & fundraising at Lake Pupuke on Sunday. It was great to see TPS families coming along to support them!
A huge shout out to Countdown, Barry’s Point Road, Bakers Delight, Milford and The Warehouse Group for their generous donations towards our fundraising efforts.
We couldn’t do it without your support!

Learning Conversations

On Tuesday 21st March and Wednesday 22nd March we will be holding Learner Conferences.

These meetings will be for 15 minutes and are an opportunity for you to meet with your child’s kaiako to celebrate their progress and discuss possible next steps. We encourage you to bring your child to this session but they will not be leading the meeting.

To book your interview time please click on the link here – https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code/pajdp

Please note that the school will close at 12.50 pm on Tuesday. School will close at the usual time on Wednesday.

If you have any further questions please contact the office or your child’s teacher. We look forward to seeing you at the conferences.

Year 6 Leaders

This week we would like to introduce you to our P.E shed monitors.

These wonderful leaders are responsible for running our PE shed at lunchtimes and distributing sports equipment for our students to play with.

Lucky Book Club

Our school has chosen to participate in the exciting Scholastic Lucky Book Club during 2023. It is packed full of wonderful titles which I’m sure your children will enjoy. There is always a large selection of books $10 or under and each book purchased earns our school 15% in rewards. We will utilize this to purchase more books for our Library or resources for our school.  In each issue you also have the option to purchase your order as a “GIFT”.  This is handy if you wish to purchase a Birthday gift without your child knowing.  In this instance, we will notify you when your order arrives for collection, it will not be sent to your child’s classroom.  Please also check out the X5 books offered at only $3.50 each!

FOR OUR NEW FAMILIES

To place an order please follow the link below, register your details, add your child.  To find us, type in the first four letters of our school (leave postcode blank) and then click on our school which will drop down on the right hand side. Once this is complete, you are ready to place your order. Go to the link below.

https://mybookclub.scholastic.co.nz/Parent/Register.aspx

Please do not send Cash or Cheque payments to our school, we are participating with online orders only. It’s a really easy process for all.

Please have your orders placed by Monday 20th March as we will send the bulk order off for processing the following day.  All books will be delivered to our school approximately 10 days after our close off date.  Should you place an order after this date, you will be asked for delivery address and a Freight Fee will apply.

For help at any time you may call 0800 266 525 and chat to the friendly customer care team, click on the help button on the Book Club platform or email bookclub@scholastic.co.nz

Thank you for your support, and we hope you enjoy the wonderful selection of books on offer at great prices.

Year 5 & 6 Puberty Talks

These will happen over the year for both years 5 & 6. The parent evening for year 5 & 6 families is on Tuesday 28th March, 6:00pm. The purpose of this evening is to support you so that you feel confident to prepare your children for some of the topics that might be talked about. It will be hosted  by Nest, who are an outside facilitator specialising in this area.

In a web browser go to https://go.linc-ed.com/  YOU MUST USE THIS WEBSITE – The Hero app on your phone does NOT have this feature.

Firewood

We still have a big pile of wood ready for winter fires.

Bring your trailer or load up your boot.

Donations to the school appreciated.

Please contact Suresh on property@tps.school.nz

You may have seen the pataka kai (store house or pantry) on Auburn street.

This was made by a group of students with support from our property manager and some whānau last year who wanted to give back to our community.

We hope the pataka kai provides the Takapuna community with an opportunity to give to others. Please feel free to donate any non perishable food items.

Take what you need, leave what you can!
